Bugg

Bugg is also known as MeLanie. “Bugg” comes from the nickname LadyyBugg, given to her by her mother.

She is from the Bay Area, California, with family roots in Oakland. She has been telling stories throughout her life — through music, poetry, short stories, and imagination.

She began writing her first novel more than a decade ago, during a difficult period of her life marked by personal, emotional, financial, and relationship struggles. Writing became an outlet, and eventually a passion.

Life interrupted the manuscript several times, but she kept returning to the story. After praying for clarity about her purpose, she realized the story had been waiting for her all along.

Her storytelling is inspired by the desire to create the kinds of books she connected with as a younger reader — stories with recognizable people, honest conversations, culture, mystery, emotion, and edge.

She founded Dhamma Publishing House to create a home for those stories.
